🐝 Weekly Roundup - Issue No. 36

🤠 Hey there!

Well this is a first. I’m writing this from the car. Which is good that it’s giving me something to do, because I am the worst backseat driver you have ever met. Especially when I’m sitting in the front seat.

But my dad’s in town for Baby Buzz No. 2’s high school graduation and he’s been talking about visiting this famous Wild West tourist attraction for years. So here we are, currently at Mile Marker 182 on the 202 South. If the trip goes as planned, I’ll be sharing about it as today’s feature. If not, you’ll be reading the story I initially planned. Or, maybe I’ll share both…

Also, I’m experimenting with the design of this and trying something new with the event & music listings. I’ve included a poll, so you can tell me which way you prefer.

Thanks for being along for the adventure…

Now let’s get into it, 🐝 cause…

The more you know, the more you go!

WILD WEST ROAD TRIPPIN’

🤠 Every trip teaches you something—and this week’s adventures? Let’s just say I learned ‘the more YOU GO, the more YOU KNOW…’

FOR THE ❤️ OF DOGS

HASHBROWN: AVAILABLE FOR ADOPTION AT BUCKEYE ANIMAL AND KENNEL (“BARK”) | 📸 Courtesy of BARK

🐶 Happy to report that I’ve partnered with another dog rescue, Buckeye Animal and Kennel (“BARK”), and today I’m sharing the first available fella they’ve sent my way:

🐾 Meet Hashbrown! 🐾

This 5-year-old American Bully is a big ol’ hunk of love looking for his forever couch buddy. After being adopted last fall and sadly abandoned in March, Hashbrown is ready for a fresh start with someone who’ll love him for good.

He’s great with people of all ages, but would thrive best as the only pet so he can soak up all the attention. Hashbrown is neutered, microchipped, and up to date on vaccines. Bonus: he comes with his food (he's allergic to chicken), leash, collar, toys, treats, and a cozy bed.

📲 Text 623-826-3085 to meet him.
Adoption fee is waived for the right home.

LOCAL LENS 📸

✈️ Lucky you if you got to see the Philippine Mars on her week-long winding journey to her new forever home at the Pima Air & Space Museum in Tucson. By Tuesday she had made her way from Lake Pleasant to Buckeye! I’m looking forward to visiting when she’s reassembled and on display.

🎥 I really enjoyed this short flick made by her transport company, Southwest Industrial Trucking.

FUN FINDER 🚀

**This week I’ve combined the THINGS TO DO and LIVE MUSIC & KARAOKE MIX listings into one hopefully easy-to-navigate spot! ⤵️

**I’m experimenting and I want to know how you prefer the event info. Please answer the poll below if you like one way over the other:

How do you prefer the EVENT and MUSIC listings?

THIS & THAT 📌

  • 🍽️ Arizona Restaurant Week is 5/16-5/25. There are several local restaurants participating, as is one of my favorite spots, Blanco Cocina + Cantina (in downtown Phoenix). Check back often as new restaurants are added to the list daily.

  • 💦 All 22 Tartesso Splash Pads are open now (May) through October, 6:30 AM - 10 PM. Find your favorite park here.

  • 🌳 Verrado Residents: Interesting recently-posted article in the Verrado Residents’ Portal about the state of the landscape. Additionally, a ‘survey’ was emailed to homeowners on 5/5. Check your spam folder if you haven’t seen it. Sounds like we all need to start attending the HOA meetings. The next one is 6/24. Mark your calendars.

  • 🎶 Gen-Xers: This took me way back to the 80’s and the days of the rotary phone! Did you know that Hall & Oates has a real-life emergency helpline you can call if you’re in dire need of a H&O jam! It totally works! Dial: 719-26-OATES (719-266-2837). I chose song 2 and it’s now stuck in my head! 😂

  • 🎉 The Buzz LOVES Educators! Congrats to the following 2024-25 Buckeye Union High School District Teachers of the Year:

    • Taylor Divinski - Youngker High School

    • Casey Pritchard - Estrella Foothills High School

    • Elijah Wickander  - Buckeye Union High School

Until next week…
