🐝 Weekly Roundup - Issue No. 33

Hello and Happy Thursday!
I’m going to keep this brief because, well, my synapses aren’t firing and the words aren’t flowing like they normally do. I’ve been under the weather this week—for this first time in at least 33 weeks—and consequently, getting this issue out was a challenge between coughing, sneezing and napping. 😅
I’m aiming to be 100% by Friday—I have long-awaited lunch plans (and if that goes well, you never know, I may just write about it here 🤞). Then on Saturday, I’ll be one of the judges at the Community of Culture Art Walk at the Lake Pavilion at Sundance Park—you’ll find all the details about that under the event listings. If you go, I’d love to meet you!
Now let’s get into it, 🐝 cause…
The more you know, the more you go!

P.S. We’re seeking guest posts. Scroll down to the “Buzz Box” below for all the details.

EARTH WEEK: LIVING & WASTING RESPONSIBLY

🌎 I first published this piece back in Issue No. 17, but with so many new faces joining The Buzz since then—and with Earth Week upon us—it felt like the perfect time to revisit the tips. Since the initial publication, I’ve learned a few more important things and happened upon a magical new treasure or two, that were so good I just had to share…

FOR THE ❤️ OF DOGS

🐕️ All these cuties are available at West Valley Animal Rescue! Your adoption donation includes includes vaccinations, deworming, spay, grooming, dental care, microchip, collar, leash, and toys. If you mention this post, they will take $50 off! Apply to adopt here.
👏 Good news! Bunnie—featured last week—has been adopted! If it was one of you, can you please let me know so I can acknowledge you!
🐾 Did you know I dog sit? I have a few openings at our cozy little doggie sanctuary—think of it as a peaceful retreat for woofers who prefer belly rubs and naps to barking frenzies. I specialize in small, mellow dogs who thrive in a peaceful environment and love personalized attention. If that sounds like your furry friend, please reach out to apply. I’m available for hourly drop-offs, doggie daycare and/or slumber parties. And walks and treats are always included, weather permitting.

🐝 I brake for Bees! [I also usually run from them! 😅]
One of my favorite things about living here, in this vast big little city of 640 square miles? That I could live here this long (going on 4 years) and have never crossed paths with The Honeyman, until now! I was stopped behind his truck at stoplight on Verrado Way and was absolutely giddy with excitement!
When I was back at my hive, I reached out to the owner and made sure it was okay that I shared this with you here. In addition to expert 100% no kill bee removal & hive relocation, they also offer a variety of local honey products. Be sure to follow them on Instagram and watch him work his magic! It’s pretty remarkable what they do! This bee thanks you! 😉
**This post was not sponsored; I just love sharing rad things that I find around town!

IN CASE YOU DIDN’T KNOW 📌
🎟️ Tickets are now on sale for Center Stage Theater Groups encore performance of ‘Love, Loss, and What I Wore’ on May 8th & 9th at the Center on Main in Verrado. Great Mother’s Day gift! 😉
‼️ Verrado Residents: Your vote is needed regarding the regulation of our community roadways. Get educated about HB 2298, the importance of VCA being able to continue to manage our streets, and cast your vote here now. You will need to request a “Registration Number” in order to vote so wear your patience pants! it may take you a try or 2 (it took me 9 emails back and forth with Cohere to get the proper registration number!!!) but, based on the issue at-hand, it’s worth the effort.
🌺 Orchid Fever is happening now thru May 11th at Desert Botanical Gardens in Phoenix. Plan to visit & get your tickets today or better yet, visit your local library and check out a “Cultural Pass” for free admission (based on availability).
✈️ The historic B-29 DOC History Restored Tour is happening at Goodyear Airport from April 24-27. Tickets for ground, cockpit and flights are available (weather permitting). And before you balk at the price of flight tickets (like I did), it costs approximately $3,375 in fuel alone for one hour of flight time. Ground tours prices are between $10-$20.
🔥 You know how I’m always yammering on about proper lithium battery disposal. This is what can happen and why it’s so important to know & understand proper hazardous waste disposal rules. Not only is it dangerous, it’s costly! [Carl, this one’s for you!]
