🐝 Weekly Roundup - Issue No. 26

🌺 Happy Thursday! 🌺
I’ve been a busy bee this past week. Last Thursday night, my friends and I at the Buckeye Civic Institute got to tour the Buckeye Police Department’s Training Facility.
It was an informative (and fun!) evening that has left me looking at police incidents in an entirely different way. Some of us were able to take part in an interactive, simulated crime. In my case, bang-bang, the criminal got me in 1.1 seconds (and I thought I had quick reflexes). Needless to say, I now have even more respect for the officers and the always-changing, fast-moving situations that are part of their daily work.
Besides that, I love Buckeye PD. Every officer I have ever spoken with over the years, has been kind and respectful. In the past few weeks, I’ve heard Chief Robert (“Bob”) Sanders speak at different locations and I can see why his department is the way it is. He is a rare mixture of gentle and strong with a great sense of humor! He’s really funny!
So, when you’re out and about and see an officer, I encourage you to say hello and talk to them so you can experience what I mean. Officers were definitely not like that back in Orange County.
And to the Buckeye PD, thanks for all you do to protect us!
Now let’s get into it, 🐝 cause…
The more you know, the more you go!

KIND WORDS 🌞
❤️ I appreciate your love for The Buzz! Your kind words bring so much sunshine to my life, I want to start sharing them! Here are a few, but there are many more and I read and value EVERY SINGLE ONE OF THEM! Thank you for taking the time to send them to me.
“Always so informative, with current happenings. Love it!”
“d“I look forward to your newsletters every week. Thank you for keeping us up to date with all things local.”
“Your description of the Spitz restaurant was outstanding. I could almost taste your meal myself. I also have Angels that show me the way and guide me through my daily life. I had to chuckle when you didn’t listen the first couple times and then finally did. I so often think I know better until they really get my attention!! Thanks for sharing ♥️”

FOR THE ❤️ OF DOGS

📸 Sushi (featured above), is a 6-month-old Eskie (American Eskimo) and was submitted here by Sawyer Page. As told by Sawyer: “Sushi is so, so barky. Nonstop barks. She loves to play for a solid fifteen minutes, then crashes out for three hours, and she's a ferocious chewer. My mom actually got her for me! We had another dog (Allie), who was slightly bigger, and looked very similar but was black instead of white. We had Allie for eleven years, and she passed from lung cancer in October. In December, my mom decided that enough time had passed, and I needed another dog- so, Sushi! The picture of her with my boyfriend, Zeke, is from her 'Gotcha' day on December 9th. She's super friendly and loves running over her other dog-friends at Sundance Dog Park.”
🦅 Check out this Live Cam of an Bald Eagle’s Nest in Big Bear, CA! As I’m writing this, Mama Jackie and Papa Shadow are eating dinner. Fascinating! Ongoing commentary on this Facebook page.
👏 Very happy to report that Manny (featured last week) got adopted!

THIS & THAT 📌
🎉 A very special shoutout to Alanah Kenyon, owner of Studio Linea Salon in Verrado, who was featured in this article about aging hair concerns in Real Simple Magazine! Dang girl, putting V-Town on the national map! Way to go!
🍔 Haymaker Restaurant is now open at the new Sunrise Market in Verrado!
🌷Next week is Spring Break in the Verrado ‘hood so plan your pool & gym time accordingly. I was going to list the vacation dates for all schools, but then found there are a whopping 9 school districts in Buckeye, and that’s not including Charter Schools—I just don’t have the time to go through them all.
💧Speaking of pools: Verrado pool update: I called and was told that only the pools at the Center on Main are heated. Heritage Pool is not heated and will not be heated next week (for Spring Break) either.
📚 The Friends of the Buckeye Public Library are collecting books for the Spring Book Sale scheduled for March 20-22, 2025. Book donations are accepted at either branch during normal business hours.
🚧 Pavement repairs have started on Verrado Way (McDowell to Thomas) as part of the City’s Pavement Management Program. They’re scheduled to be completed on March 18th but will be back again—for 1 day of road work—on April 18th.
