🐝 Weekly Roundup - Issue No. 21

In partnership with

Hey Neighbors!

🌧️ Well the biggest news around town this week is: IT FINALLY RAINED! That was a nice surprise and I do love it, but since moving here, I have become quite accustomed to the sun shining every day. Where I’m from (OC), it was “June Gloom” often and I don’t miss that! Happy to see the sun back to shining today!

On tonight’s Buckeye Civic Institute agenda is “Development Services, CIP & Traffic.” I’ll report what I find. 😉

Now let’s get into it, 🐝 cause,

The more you know, the more you go!

HIDDEN GEM: SHEEP CAMP

Because my week has been wonky and my emotions blue, I’m on a mission to find some good, down-home cooking to fill my weary soul. Which is how, I found myself at The Sheep Camp in downtown Buckeye late in the morning, on a dreary Wednesday.

❤️ I appreciate your love for The Buzz! Your kind words bring so much sunshine to my life, I want to start sharing them! Here are a few, but there are many more and I read and value EVERY SINGLE ONE OF THEM! Thank you for taking the time to send them to me.

FOR THE ❤️ OF DOGS

  • 💌 “Bandit found me after my husband died. He was my lifeline, giving me purpose and focus. I had never raised a Border Collie before and he has been such a delight! Very smart dog, very loving, extremely loyal and always a bit of a baby. He is 3.5 years old and descends from a family of collies that herd horses in Sonoita, Arizona.” [As told by his best friend, Maureen Wilson (who also happens to be one of my Buckeye Civic Institute classmates)]. Mr. Buzz says “What a cool name!”

  • 💔 Several of my friends are either dealing with ailing pets or have recently had to send their baby to the Rainbow Bridge. When it was time for me to release my best friend, Bamboo, from his suffering, I used KC In Home Pet Euthanasia. Katherine took excellent care of both of us from from start to finish, including the cremains & paw print. Service was heads & tails above any other vet I have used. [In memory of Lord Beauregard (Beau) Octavius Wrinklebottom [05/10/23-01/22/25] and Joey McCloud [2012-01/25/25] - 😥 RIP boys (Run in Paradise)]

  • 👏 In happy news: Rolo (featured here for adoption last week) was adopted on 1/27! If it was one of you, THANK YOU!!!

5-SECOND FACTS ⏱️

🤯 OMG (Oh! My God!)

I thought this was wild: The acronym and expression “OMG” was first used in 1917 by John Arbuthnot Fisher in a letter he wrote to Winston Churchill (the two had an antagonistic relationship).

Unfortunately, Mr. Fisher will never receive the credit due for the origination of his clever quip… It took over 70 years for “OMG” to catch on and become part of our everyday lingo. I attribute it’s widespread use to this song (released in 1982), this movie (released in 1983) and this song (released in 1992). For sure, for sure. 😉

THIS & THAT 📌

  • 🤗 Volunteer: All Faith Community Services in downtown Buckeye is seeking volunteers. I’m told they’re having to close early some days because they don’t have enough volunteers to pack food boxes. Ways to help and volunteer application can be found here.

  • 🚀 Power of Attorney Forms: Sending your young adult off to college? Check out Momma Bear Legal Forms to get everything set up hassle-free. They also include free HIPAA & FERPA forms. I used this service for son #1 and just realized I need to do it again for my second! It’s quick, easy, and their app stores everything on your phone. Use my link for 20% off.*

  • 🔗 Looking for a new job? Hiring? Make the connection and join the Buckeye Job Seekers Network on Facebook!

  • ✈️ VIP Tickets are on-sale now for the Buckeye Air Fair scheduled for February 14th-16th at the Buckeye Airport. General admission tickets are free! Parking is $10. Hope to see you there! 😉

  • ❣️ Buy These: I have been on a year-long quest for the perfect house slippers and the search is finally over! I just got these (leopard) and I LOVE them! They are so comfortable, can be worn with or without socks, keep my feet warm (but not too warm 😅), have a soft rubber sole, and are machine washable. Almost too good to be true, especially for the price!*
