🐝 Weekly Roundup - Issue No. 19

Oh Happy Day!
Thursdays are now double the fun for me: I send The Buzz and the Buckeye Civic Institute classes meet on Thursday evenings at various locations throughout the city.
Last week we met at the Buckeye Valley Museum in downtown Buckeye. If you haven’t been, I want to encourage you to visit. The ladies at the helm (Chris Larson & Maria Johnson) do a wonderful job of bringing our local history alive and their love for Buckeye is evident in everything they do.
As for the Civic Institute classes, they are highly interactive and I left the first night in awe of my 28 (or so) classmates and the facilitators, Janene Van Leeuwen (Neighborhood Service Coordinator) & Christine Grundy (Assistant to Mayor Eric Orsborn).
I will be sharing more about what I learn as the weeks unfold, but for now just know that there are so many brilliant people pouring their hearts and souls into making Buckeye the very best it can be. I am overwhelmed with gratitude to get to live here. What a gift!
Now let’s get into it, 🐝 cause,
The more you know, the more you go!
~ ❤️ Vanessa

TRIPPIN’: FLAGSTAFF

🌲 If you live in the Valley and have yet to venture up north, you’d be quite shocked that just about 65 miles up the I-17, the landscape completely changes. Because my son attends Northern Arizona University, I’ve become a frequent visitor to Flagstaff. It’s close enough, that a round-trip can be made in one day, as I often do. But, it’s also a nice place for a quick getaway, which is what I did this weekend when I took him back to school. Sharing the details on the drive, accommodations, dining options and things to do below:

❤️ I appreciate your love for The Buzz! Your kind words bring so much sunshine to my life, I want to start sharing them! Here are a few, but there are many more and I read and value EVERY SINGLE ONE OF THEM! Thank you for taking the time to send them to me.
“Thanks for your complete honesty when critiquing eating establishments. Really appreciate that!!”
“Can I just take a second to say I FREAKING LOVE THIS ARTICLE!!!! It’s become a must have in my weekly life!”

FOR THE ❤️ OF DOGS

🐕️ The City of Buckeye offers various levels of dog training classes at Sundance Park, with the next round starting in early February. This is a great way to meet people and socialize too! Register here.
🦅 As I’m writing this, another bird just flew into my window! 🙁 Luckily it must have been okay, because it flew off. However, it reminded me: Fallen Feathers can assist if you find an injured bird. Follow the instructions on their website and do not call ahead. They are very busy and may not be able to immediately respond.

📸 I am seeking pictures of your animals so I can feature your creatures here! Send your favorite photo & details to: [email protected]

5-SECOND FACTS ⏱️
🐰 Jackrabbit Trail (the road), got its name because it used to be so small that it wasn’t even wide enough for two jackrabbits.
As someone in my class said, it now fits 4! 😆

IN CASE YOU DIDN’T KNOW 🔎
🦞 If you haven’t heard, Angie’s Burger opened yesterday in Verrado. Due to the public outcry (“Not another burger place…”) the restaurant has revised their menu to include their famous lobster rolls (served at their “Angie’s Lobster” locations). They also have chicken sandwiches and tenders. People were raving online about the food!
🧘 In looking for something else, I discovered that the City of Buckeye offers residents FREE fitness classes every week starting the first week of February! Classes are held at Sundance Park, Tartesso Sports Park and Festival Foothills HOA Park and include Yoga, Zumba, High/Yo Fitness, and Dance. Register here.
💧 Alert - Sundance Residents in the area of Gibson Lane, Hammond Drive, Meade Lane, and 224th (East of Rainbow Road, West of 223rd, South of Durango & North of Lower Buckeye Road), due to a water leak repair in the area, you may experience a water outage from Friday, January 17th at 8 PM, to Saturday, January 18th at 4 AM. Plan accordingly.

BUZZ BUSINESS PARTNERS
🐝 I’m so close to being able to include local businesses here!
I am just waiting on one small but important regulatory-related detail. Otherwise, my ad package options are ready to send, so be on the lookout for an email from me very soon! If you have already contacted me to request this, you are on the list!
It is my goal to have local ads in next week’s issue as soon as I get a straight answer from the AZ Dept. of Revenue. Seems what I’m doing here is so unique that it has to be researched - no easy answers. 🫠
If you’re interested in advertising and sponsorship options, email me at [email protected]

Until next week…
💌 If you enjoyed this issue, please share it with someone who is also in hibernation mode! 🥶
And, as always, I’m here for any feedback, thoughts, topic suggestions, or if you just want to say hello. Reach me by replying to this email or directly at [email protected].
