🌮 REVIEW: TACOS BARBON

On Tuesday, We Taco’d…

📸 LOCAL LENS

Spotted these cute javelinas when I was out for a walk the other day. Since it’s only the 2nd time I’ve seen them since we moved here, I thought I’d take this opportunity to research & share some info about them:
Javelina is pronounced “ha-vuh-lee-nuh.”
They travel in packs known as “squadrons.”
Although they may resemble pigs, they are not from the pig family.
Javelinas, also known as peccaries or skunk pigs, and are pig-like ungulates of Tayassuidae family.
The biggest difference between them and pigs is that they have tusks, which are short & straight.
They use their jaws and tusks to crush seeds, slice plant roots, and for defense.
They are said only be aggressive when they feel threatened but I don’t want to test that theory.
They can run up to 35 miles per hour!
There are 3 species of peccaries living in the Southwestern US and through Central America.
The Javelinas who live in our area are referred to as “collared peccary.”
Javelinas measure between 2’11”-4’3” and a full-grown adult weighs between 44-88 lbs.
People in my neighborhood regularly have heir cacti eaten, planters knocked over & broken, pumpkins munched on the porch, all by squadrons of javelinas who roam the streets at night.
As I’m writing this, a post appears in my Facebook feed by someone saying their yard is being ravaged by javelinas… Good reminder to not leave real pumpkins on your porch and use plastic pots, because when a javelina comes to town, they don’t mess around.

👓️ I am shocked that I have had these 3 pairs of reading glasses since October 2023 and none of them have broken! Prior to finding these, I was ordering expensive (and cute) reading glasses from a well-known company but the frames would break after only a few months! I love finding better products & saving money and I get complimented on these often! Be sure to check the box on the Amazon page for an extra 15% off (expires 11/21).*
