🐝 The Buzz- Issue No. 60
October 30 - November 5, 2025

TOGETHER WITH
Boo! 👻
Halloween is (already???) tomorrow and if you’re new to the area, you may have noticed that certain parts of town go wild for this. Luckily, the weather is shaping up to make for a perfect night!
Because I’ve been asked, and in case you don’t know, the goblins start pounding the pavement around dusk (5:30-ish). Another thing that’s different here than where I’m from: treats are handed out in front of the house instead of knocking on doors. So, if your bell’s not ringing, step outside.
Also, be on the lookout as many neighbors also have “treats” for the parents that might make trudging up and down the streets a heck of a lot more, shall I say…. spirited!
Most importantly, be sure to check out our Local Guide to a Spooky Good Time which has been updated to include a huge list of decorated houses, including the contenders and winners of the HOA contest in Verrado.
Now let’s get into it, 🐝-cause….
The more you know, the more you go!
✌️♥️ 🐝 ~ Vanessa

🥕 Health is the greatest wealth and what you feed yourself truly matters. One of my favorites places to nourish both body and soul is Blue Sky Organic Farms. It’s a little slice of heaven tucked right here in our own backyard!
I first featured them way back in Issue No. 5 on October 10, 2024, when The Buzz was just a tiny seedling. Since then, we’ve grown a whopping 1,526% (!!!), proof that good things really do take root when nurtured with love and Arizona sun!

FOR THE ❤️ OF DOGS

🐾 Meet Layla, the love bug, submitted by Eve & Ken:
“Layla is approximately 8 years old. We got her as a rescue. And as for personality: she's very stubborn, very sweet, and just all around good girl except she loves to dig. At our prior home, right after we got her, she dug up all the underground irrigation tubing and put it in one pile in the middle of the yard.”
🎃 I’ve been saving Layla for weeks to share specifically in this issue because the photo above came to me pretty much as-is, I only added her name.

Get home insurance that protects what you need
Standard home insurance doesn’t cover everything—floods, earthquakes, or coverage for valuable items like jewelry and art often require separate policies or endorsements. Switching over to a more customizable policy ensures you’re paying for what you really need. Use Money’s home insurance tool to find the right coverage for you.

IN CASE YOU DON’T KNOW 🔎
💔 A Go Fund Me has been set up to support the loss local Buckeye resident, Michelle Marie Perez, who was killed in a tragic accident outside of Walmart in Goodyear on 10/23. She was only 41 years old and leaves behind a husband and 5 children.
🐶 West Valley Animal Rescue is in dire need of gently used towels, sheets, blankets, comforters and pillowcases. See link for more info.
🏘️ The grand opening of the new housing development - Teravalis - is scheduled for 11/15 from 10 AM - 3 PM. Live Music, Food, Tour 20 Model Homes! See ya there!
📍The Pinners Conference is coming to Scottsdale 11/14-11/15! Get crafty!
🎁 Hot Community Foundation is seeking volunteers for their gift wrapping marathon taking place 11/18-11/20.
🧹 I’ve been on a cleaning frenzy and hands-down, my favorite tool is the Tineco Wet Dry Vacuum Cleaner.** Note: I vacuum first and then use my Tineco to mop.
🚧 Goodyear: Avoid the intersection of Estrella Parkway & the I-10 thru December. The construction in that area is seriously confusing (and a little scary) as I learned myself last night.
🎆 Please be advised there will be fireworks at the Verrado High School football game Friday night (10/31) between 7-10:30 PM.

BUZZ MILESTONE 🪩
🎉 We’ve hit Issue No. 60!!! Sixty weeks. Approximately 192,000 words. Countless cups of espresso, lots of tacos, and maybe a nap (or two).
When I sent the very first issue of The Buckeye Buzz on September 12, 2024, I never imagined it would grow into what it is today: a weekly tradition shared by thousands of neighbors who now feel more connected because of it.
Thank YOU for reading, sharing, and cheering me on every week. Cultivating community is the reason I keep on buzzing. And, we’re just getting started! 🚀
➡️ Fun Fact: 192,000 words is equal to a 700-page novel. (And no, Carl, I have not yet started working on my book, but I’m getting closer to believing in the possibility. 😉 )

Until next week…

Will be spending the rest of the afternoon repairing my broomstick! 🪄
