🐝 The Buckeye Buzz - Weekly Roundup

Issue No. 6

Hello Neighbors!

First, thanks to all of you who took the time to respond to the survey I emailed on Saturday. Newer subscribers will also receive it in the near future so be on the lookout!

Absolutely loving the wonderful ideas submitted so far and the many kind words you sent me about this publication! Thank you!!!

In curating the content and writing this each week, there are still things I’m trying to figure out and your input helps me know what to focus on. To that end, the look of this will be evolving and hopefully improving every week!

Without further ado, let’s get buzzing… 🐝 cause…

The more you know, the more you go!

~ ❤️ Vanessa

  • 🎡 The Arizona State Fair is open weekdays and runs through October 27th.

  • 💫 Desert Farm Lights is open and runs thru December 29th | Tickets Req’d | 14629 W. Peoria Avenue, Waddell.

  • 🛟 Verrado Residents: The Heritage Swim Park will be closed for deck painting until October 30th.

  • 👻 You can find the best of Arizona’s Haunted Houses via this map.

  • 🎃 Today (Thursday, October 17th) is opening day for the Pumpkin Patch on 303. They are open tonight until 8 PM, and daily through October 31st. See link for more information.

  • 🎭️ Only two more weeks to get your tickets to “The Holidays Can Be Murder” an interactive dinner theatre event scheduled for November 8-10th at the Center on Main in Verrado. See highlighted link for discount code, more info & tickets.

  • 🛒 Winco Foods had it’s grand opening of their 141st store in Goodyear earlier this week. From a comment online, “the lines are crazy and the carts are sparse.” The poster also says to “bring your own bags,” as part of the savings comes from bagging your own groceries. Upside: It’s employee-owned, open 24 hours, and the prices are low! Downside: They do not take credit cards - only debit cards, cash, checks, & EBT, so prepare accordingly.

FOR THE ❤️ OF DOGS… & TURTLES

  • As I’ve written about before, my best friend, Bamboo, passed away on August 10th, and, as always, I turned to books for help & healing. This one in particular was so good: Goodbye, Pet & See You In Heaven. It’s a personal story about the loss of the author’s dog, Bonnie, and how she navigated the grief process.

  • Community Paws Bingo is scheduled for October 25th. See highlighted link for more info & tickets.

  • 🐢 I cannot believe the amount of lost & found turtles (actually tortoises) that I have been seeing in the last few weeks in my FaceBook feed. I don’t recall ever seeing even one post about one before, and I just saw another one now! Luckily there’s an organization that can help: the largest reptile sanctuary in the United States, is here in AZ! The Phoenix Herpetological Sanctuary can assist if you lost one or found one. (They help with all reptiles, not just turtles.)

PET-RELATED EVENTS

THIS & THAT

  • 🍎 As soon as Sweet Treats by Adrienne’s post popped up in my FaceBook feed, I knew I had to share her goodies with you. She makes gourmet apples, cookies, coco bombs & more! Pick up is near Sundance (behind the golf course) and she can also mail orders outside the area. For you subscribers, she is offering a discount of 20% off + free shipping when you use the code word “BUZZ,” now through 10/31/24. To order, contact her directly on her Instagram page (linked above).

  • ⛱️ This loooooooong, hot, dry summer has left my skin feeling parched, and I just realized why my face feels like it’s cracking - I ran out of my favorite skin care product, Juno & Co. Cleansing Balm, and have been trying to use up other products littering my vanity. The Juno Balm cleanses my face, washes off mascara, and hydrates all at once! I have tried many other way more expensive brands and nothing compares to this!

  • 💤 Trouble sleeping? Leg cramps? I have both! I found this liquid magnesium works (when I remember to take it 😅 ) in helping me sleep through the night and/or fall back to sleep if I wake up. I order the 🍓 flavor and think it tastes surprisingly good! I ran out of it last night and love it so much I’m having another bottle delivered today (along with cleansing balm, that I also just realized I don’t want to go another day without).

P.S. You may see as you read through this and future issues, that I have had to add additional copyright notices on various pages. This has been implemented in an effort to further protect my work & deter poachers from copying and pasting my content for use on their own websites or publications without credit or permission. I’m truly saddened this has become an issue and that I even have to mention it here. Not to worry though, I learned a lot through what happened! 😎
