Hello Neighbors!

🔥 Looks like we made it through another summer!!! 113 days over 100 degrees!

As I finalize this edition, it is currently 68°!!! 🧊 🧊 baby! Pinch me!

And you know what that means?! Life is about to get a lot more fun around here!

The calendar is blowing up with things to do and it already feels like “the hills are alive with the sound of music.” 🕺 

So dust off your parkas and let’s get to it!

After the launch of the first issue last Thursday, people started asking the same question. Since this week’s feature “Spotlight Story” fell through, I thought I’d take this opportunity to share a little bit about how The Buckeye Buzz came to be.

And because I cannot tell a short story, I will share in parts… This is Part 1!

🔍️ IN CASE YOU DIDN’T KNOW

  • 🪩 Fun Over 50 in Verrado has ongoing fun events planned! Anyone, anywhere, over 40 can join. The group has over 900 members! Gen-X baby!!!

  • 🍔 The Craftsman is not closing. However, they are closed on Mondays.

  • 🐂 Waddell’s Longhorn is temporarily closed for improvements.

  • 🛶 Hidden Lake is closed until further notice for Phase 2 renovations.

FOR THE ❤️ OF DOGS

  • ✂️ My neighbors (Maggie & Tony, love them!!!) always know the best people! They are long-time area residents and have lots of connections. They also have 🐶 🐶 🐶 🐶 🐶 little doggies (the cutest!) who are livin’ the life! Maggie has been raving about their mobile groomer for years! I know how hard it is to find good service, so if you’re in need of a dog groomer, give Amanda Winfrey a call at 623-236-4963! (Old school style, she doesn’t have social media 😉 )

  • 🐶 Need your dog’s (or cat’s or pig’s) nails trimmed? I’m told people love the convenience Carol Kerkau offers her clients with her Just Trimm mobile nail trimming service! Click on the highlighted link to learn more.

GIVING & VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITIES

  • Teachers are the ❤️ heart of our community. An easy way to show your appreciation: consider sending a box (or 10!!) of tissues to your child’s class or homeroom - including high schoolers! [The need for this came straight from a teacher 😉 ]

  • Every 1st & 3rd Tuesday Feed My Sheep provides free freshly prepared meals at The American Legion in Buckeye | 11 AM - 2 PM

  • All Faith Community Services | Get Involved 

🏈 FRIDAY NIGHT LIGHTS

LOCAL VARSITY FOOTBALL SCHEDULE

🏈 Attending “Friday Night Lights” is a great way to support our local youth and truly feel a part of the community, even if you don’t have skin (a kid) in the game! Bring the family!

🎟️ Tickets to all games are available for purchase here.

📣 Did you know that the Viper Vanguard Band has a special event at all Verrado High School Varsity Home Games called Friday Night Lights? They offer a VIP area for fans to enjoy the game in comfy seats, food, drinks and games all while being on the field watching the game! Click here for tickets and more information.

Lives have been changed through our experience with him! Highly recommend, especially for pesky teenage skin concerns! [Also, when I was looking for this service, I called offices in Buckeye and the surrounding towns. To this day, Red Mountain was the only place that returned my call! Thanks, Brianna ❤️ ]

  • ❗️ SCAM ALERT: Dear People of Buckeye with your big huge hearts: Please only hire someone (car wash, vent cleaning, etc.) based on referrals from our community. There are so many SCAMS going on online, and it pains me to see you fall for the sob stories. There are also many fantastics local businesses that will take great care of you!

  • ❗️ SCAM ALERT #2: As I was finalizing this issue, a local lady posted about a SCAM call she received today. Read HER POST carefully so you can be on alert for calls like this. When I was working as a paralegal, an attorney in my office fell for a SCAM call from someone posing as an IRS Agent, making threats to seize her assets. She was about to transfer money, fearing she was going to lose her house, but luckily her bank intercepted the transaction.
