Hidden Gem: Blue Sky Organic Farms
Cultivating All Kinds of Goodness Under the Arizona Sun

The primary healthcare in your life is what you consume and if you consume with awareness, that will probably keep you well for most of your life.
Off The Beaten Path
Blue Sky Organic Farms is truly the most hidden of all Hidden Gems. It’s one of those places that is hard to find unless you know about it because it’s tucked away off the main road. I found it via a Google search shortly after moving here in my quest to find organic vegetables for juicing.
At the time, there was only one entrance on a little dirt road off Perryville, but there is now another route off of Indian School & North 189th Avenue, which is the way Google Maps now directs (when I checked for the writing of this article).
It’s Alive!
I love walking in the store door and immediately smelling freshness! There is just something different about the way a natural market feels and smells. So vibrant! You can almost hear those veggies calling your name!

Can you spot my cute purple cabbage?
I think more people would like vegetables, if they had them from an organic source.
Chasing Purple… Cabbage
Lately I have been visiting Blue Sky specifically for purple cabbage (also known as red cabbage) and let me tell you, this isn’t ordinary cabbage! I like to shred it super thin on my mandoline and eat it on salads, tacos, and taco bowls. However, this cabbage is so delicious, I often eat it all by itself as soon as I shred it!
Everything here is divine… I especially also love the carrots & green onions! And as I write this, I’m dreaming of roasted cauliflower which I’m going to go buy there as soon I finish this…
The Organic Advantage
The produce bought from an organic market tastes like what the vegetable is meant to taste like. And when you taste the difference, you’ll see how different (and almost tasteless) conventionally-grown produce tastes.
Conventional farming relies on GMOs and chemicals, while organic farmers focus on caring for the soil (without toxins), which leads to healthier plants with better taste and higher nutritional value.
It has also been my experience that organic produce lasts longer which means you get more bang for your buck! I am still eating the head of cabbage I bought at the end of July! And haven’t yet had to crack the newest head I bought there on September 28th.
That’s bananas don’t you think?!

The Market
You are in for a real treat! In addition to the freshest produce, they also offer daily-made sandwiches in the fridge (those go quick!), organic meat, eggs, fresh local sourdough bread and baked goods, beverages, dips, dressings, spreads, and raw milk.
There are also shelves filled with dry goods (organic beans, etc.), local honey, jams, candy, caramels and so much more!
Plus, a unique selection of gifts, refillable glass jars and baskets.
Farm Life
Blue Sky Organic Farms has been family owned and operated in Arizona for almost 30 years! That was decades before “organic” become the “in” thing! According to the Paragraphic YouTube video (linked below), the farm can produce enough food to feed 20,000 people a week! In addition to their farm, you can find them every week at local Farmer’s Markets around the valley. | ![]() Actual Sign at Blue Sky |
There’s something about a goat that just instantly puts a smile on everyone’s face.
Baaaaa!!!!!
Like Sara said, there’s something about a goat that just makes you smile! They are such silly characters and each has their own unique personality. And they can JUMP! It is truly entertaining to watch them bounce around their pen.
It really makes for a fun (and affordable) outing to take the kids (big & small) to visit the goats at the farm. Inside the store you can buy food to feed them. And, don’t plan on showing up to their pen without food because they will go nuts (like they did to me yesterday when I showed up to take pictures. I owe them!)
🐐 Fun Facts 🐐
A fun fact about the goats: They were initially acquired at the farm to assist in healing their dogs rescued from the streets of Buckeye. Goat milk, rich in nutrients, not only aids animals but also offers benefits to humans!
Over time, the herd has continued to grow. Some goats are rescued and will live the rest of their life at the farm. But, they also raise goats to sell to loving homes both locally and across the country! Goats are often pets or used for companion animals for other outside livestock.
Another fun fact: Goats are herd animals and are only sold in pairs or to a home that already has a companion animal (livestock or another goat).
See all their goats for sale here. Warning: don’t look unless you want a goat because they are soooo cute, you’ll want to bring at least two home!
![]() “Hunter” (Thanks, Tina ❤️ ) | This fella went nuts when I visited for photos! Unfortunately, the store was closed so I couldn’t buy treats… I felt so bad driving away while they all were “baaaaaa’ing” at me! I.O.U! 😉 |
